1 Purpose & Service Overview
Raised-floor voids and plenums are the lungs of a data centre — every degree of cooling capacity depends on air reaching the right rack, unobstructed. Over time, abandoned cabling, construction debris, dust and packaging accumulate beneath the floor, restricting airflow, creating hot spots, and triggering thermal alarms that have nothing to do with IT load.
This service specification sets out DCS Australia’s Sub-floor & Plenum Cleaning program — a thorough, forensic-grade clean of raised-floor voids, plenums and cable trays that removes the dust loads and obstructions eroding cooling performance, restoring the airflow the facility was designed for.

2 Scope of Services
The service covers the following core work streams, described in detail below:
- Sub-floor void cleaning beneath the raised floor
- Supply and return air plenum cleaning

2.1 Sub-Floor Void Cleaning
HEPA-filtered cleaning of the full sub-floor cavity, including structural supports, the underside of floor tiles, and areas beneath server racks and PDUs where contamination concentrates.
2.2 Plenum Cleaning
Removal of dust, fibre and debris from supply and return air plenums, restoring intended pressure differentials and preventing bypass air loss around tile edges and penetrations.
2.3 Cable Tray Cleaning
Cleaning of cable trays and containment to remove accumulated dust without disturbing live cabling, carried out using anti-static, residue-free methods safe for a live floor.
2.4 Obstruction & Debris Removal
Identification and removal of abandoned cabling, construction offcuts, packaging and other debris that restrict airflow or block access for future maintenance.
2.5 Detailed Condition Reporting
Every engagement includes before-and-after photographic evidence and a written condition report, flagging any structural, airflow or contamination issues found for further investigation.
3 Cleaning Process & Sequence
Work is carried out on a live, energised floor using safe tile-lift sequencing and containment-aware methods, so cooling and power are never interrupted. The table below outlines the standard sequence of works.
